Training

LEL and Training Project support the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) with coordinating the Click It or Ticket (CIOT) mobilization and the Impaired Driving Mobilization (IDM), and with the law enforcement Selective Traffic Enforcement Programs (STEP’s).

The Texas Drug Recognition (DRE) Program is funded through a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation. The program serves to train, manage, and promote the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Drug Evaluation and Classification Program (DECP).

The Law Enforcement Advanced DUI/DWI Reporting System (LEADRS) is a web-based reporting system with no licensing fees developed in 2004 by the Texas Municipal Police Association in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

The purpose of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Training (ADAPT) program is to provide University law enforcement officers with all of the tools necessary in the prevention of alcohol and drug abuse among college students. Focus on Reducing Impaired Driving Among Youth (FRIDAY) is a statewide training program where law enforcement officers across the state have the opportunity to receive free training related to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, underage drinking, and investigative techniques.

Sexual Assault Family Violence Investigator Course (SAFVIC) provides comprehensive training courses that emphasize professional response and investigation of family violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

The Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Refresher Training Course is a statewide training program where law enforcement officers across the state have the opportunity to receive free training to further enhance their expertise in DWI deterrence and decrease alcohol-related crashes, injuries, and deaths.
